In every church where we minister the subject of divine healing is of paramount importance, yet many people are still in the dark as to understanding very much about Biblical healing. It is so very important that the healing message be planted to help people see that divine healing is not a side issue in Christian belief. It is not a nice “add on” or an extra “religious option.” Quite the opposite is true. Healing is an integral part of who God the Father is, who Jesus the Son is and who the Holy Spirit is. In fact, healing is intimately linked to who we are as believers and to the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

As it turns out, healing from God runs like a beautiful stream from Genesis through the book of Revelation. As a matter of fact, every book of the Bible, without exception, in one way or another teaches about God healing people! While this isn’t difficult to understand or grasp, a problem, exists concerning the acquiring of essential information about Biblical healing because when you delve into the Biblical study, you soon discover that pertinent information must be drawn from the entirety of the Bible and pulled together meaningfully in order to understand it fully. This necessity to carefully integrate divine healing into the whole of Biblical understanding presents many complexities and unique problems. Because of this, many preachers and teachers refuse the arduous task and by default do not teach about healing. The end result is that many believers are left in the dark uninformed and unaware concerning this important subject.

The failure of many to pursue a thorough understanding of divine healing does not reduce the vital role divine healing plays. Healing has been and always will be an integral part of the working of God among people and as such is a vital part of Christianity deserving great proclamation in the church. Second only to the good news of salvation from sin, as secured through the supreme sacrifice of Jesus Christ at the cross, is the provision that God has made, also secured at the cross by Jesus Christ, to heal our bodies and minds. In fact, every time we proclaim, “Jesus saves!” we can shout with equal fervor that, “Jesus heals!” One very important fact then concerning divine healing is that healing is a major truth and a majestic reality in God’s plan of things from the beginning of time and it needs to be understood, proclaimed and taught. Teaching this profound truth is one of the critical missions of today’s church. We dare not let the wondrous healing stream of Jesus Christ dry up in our hearts.
